A key part of the DigIT! to Build IT! Programme is the “Twinning” scheme where we do our utmost to link participating schools with local employers in the industry. If you register for the scheme we identify the companies with sites local to your school and supply you with the contact information for you to get in touch with them and make the arrangements.
Twinning companies are asked to give up a few hours of their time and attend a lesson with 14 to 19 year old students to take part in a discussion about the extractives and building products industries. Employers will have received receive all the necessary background information on the DigIT! to BuildIT! course in advance.
If possible we hope that employers will invite the DigIT! to BuildIT! Students to visit their sites and show them at first hand how the industry works. This is an ideal way to bring the industry to life for the students.
We are confident that in many cases the initial twinning of the school and employer by DigIT! to BuildIT! may lead to ongoing relationships with activities such as site visits, work experience and careers planning being arranged.
